About Kevin Murphy
Kevin Murphy (they/them) is a songwriter first and foremost, approaching music with honest simplicity and punk rock energy. Their songs are sung in pursuit of genuine self expression, through furious strumming and lyrics belted out with urgency and determination. Whether performed solo and acoustic, or in their electric 3-piece punk band, Kevin Murphy’s Murder, the songs have the same energy, intensity, and clarity of purpose.
Kevin’s first full-length album, Fireweed, was released digitally and on vinyl on July 4th, 2025. Produced by Chuck Coles and Adam Michael, Fireweed embraces the idea that we are responsible for how we shape the world around us and within us, what we allow to thrive in our presence, and who we choose to be in a culture too often defined by skewed priorities, dehumanizing policies, bigotry and violence.
Shed That Skin, the 5-track debut EP from Kevin Murphy’s Murder, will be released digitally and on streaming platforms, as well as on CD via Cartridge Heart, on November 20th, 2026. The EP sees Kevin’s folk-punk songwriting elevated by the blistering intensity of an electric 3-piece arrangement. With the precise but powerful drumming of Unnikrishnan Kalidas and the distortion-saturated, melodic bass lines of Nathan Thompson, the songs hit like a punch in the gut. Shed That Skin is incisive and angry, a satisfying shot of punk rock rage with the thoughtfulness and craft to back it up.
